Synium Software Releases MacFamilyTree 6

Synium Software has released MacFamilyTree 6, a major update of the popular and modern genealogy software for Mac OS X. MacFamilyTree 6 is the most significant update in its 12 year product history. Nearly all parts of the application have been improved, incorporating Apple's latest and most powerful technologies. Several brand new features are introduced with MacFamilyTree 6. What are the most notable among them?

* New Family Tree Editor
Visually create your Family Tree using the whole new edit mode.

* New User Interface
MacFamilyTree's user interface received a major overhaul for version 6. Choose from four distinct categories when working with MacFamilyTree - Edit, Views, Reports, Export. That way, you'll always know where in MacFamilyTree you are and what you can do right now.

* New and improved Reports and Charts
MacFamilyTree's CoreAnimation based charts scale up to a virtually unlimited number of persons and can be exported or printed, of course.

* "New FamilySearch" integration
Search for ancestors and profit from several million person entries in the FamilySearch.org database. Currently in closed beta, available for all users by the end of 2010. FamilySearch.org can be used for free without any subscription fee.

* New Places Management
In MacFamilyTree 6, places are handled in a completely new and more approachable way. Open the Places Editor and have MacFamilyTree automatically scan for places without geo-coordinates. Merge places in case of duplicates and see which events any place was assigned to.

* ToDo Management
Let MacFamilyTree help you keep track of your tasks with the To-Do-List feature. Prioritize and categorize anything that comes to mind and make sure you get to the most urgent matters first but don't forget about the small details along the way.

* Web Research
Services like EllisIsland, FindAGrave, FootNote, WorldVitalRecords, Ancestry or Google Search can be accessed from within MacFamilyTree with the new Web Research tool.

* Vastly improved performance
Charts and diagrams are created instantaneously. Massive performance gains troughout the whole application. MacFamilyTree 6 runs as a 64 bit application when using 10.6 Snow Leopard

* GEDCOM importer and exporter greatly improved
To name just a few: version 6 now supports ANSEL encoding, as well as UTF-8, UTF-16, Plain ASCII, Mac OS Roman and Windows Latin export

Please have a look at the release notes for a full list of features and improvements.
