Apple is Switching to Halogen-Free Power/USB Cables

Apple is switching to improved power and USB cables that are halogen-free and friendlier to the environment, reports This Is London.

When halogen cables are disposed of by incineration they release toxic fumes that are dangerous to humans and the environment.

Volex, a company 23% owned by billionaire Nat Rothschild, makes the cables used for Apple products including MacBooks, iPhones and iPads. It's spending $6 million in design and start-up costs for the new cables.
